Hello all, and welcome to ‘Straight up’ my weekly blog from the bar at
Bourbon & Branch.
I hope to cover a variety of subjects including; what’s happening at
Bourbon & Branch and other bars around town, new cocktails & spirits and
what’s coming in the future at Bourbon & Branch.
First off in response to you, we are now open on Monday’s. So get down
here and let’s drink some Bourbon! We will be offering special Bourbon
flights on Monday’s for the entire month of May!
Our new menu is out this week I would love to hear your comments on the
new cocktails.
Some of my favorites; “The Whiskey Flower” made with Bourbon, elderflower,
lemon & egg white, “The Gypsy” with Gin, elderflower, Chartreuse & lime
and our new “Smoked Martini” with gin, vermouth and house-smoked olives.
All together I think we added fifteen new cocktails.
Soon at the Branch…
House-made tonic water is coming, I’m waiting for more Cinchona bark to
arrive and hope to offer our own tonic at least 3 day’s a week starting
next week. I’ve been working on a new recipe with more citrus, its
slightly sweet yet very bitter at the same time.
And yes, sometime in the next couple of weeks I am going to give the
“Deconstructed Negroni” another try I’ll keep you posted…
Cheers,
Todd

Yay for The Revolver! Too bad I keep calling it "The Assassin."
See you next Monday for a flight!

Todd,
You were so gracious to let me shoot in your space and the images were a total success. I will bring you by your CD very soon!
Cheers!

Yey! A blog to read, for in between cocktails. Amazing that the Revolver has made it around the world! The first time I had that cocktail, I almost died. I exclaimed to woman next to me that I would rather drink one of these than have sex. She was not conviced, oh well.

Nice start to your blog!
I should be hopefully wandering by next Monday to check out (at a minimum) the Bourbon flight.
And the new cocktails.. oh heck... I may not even be able to wait that long...(she opens up her browser to scan for open slots this week...) ;)
And since I seem to be out of the loop somewhat.. er, what was the first deconstructed negroni like?

Thanks for letter Todd, it's so refreshing to receive a hand-typed letter. An inspiring one at that. I'll ask for the Revolver next time I'm in. It will be the first time I ever asked someone to hand over a Revolver without using force. But you know how Mrs. Robinson loves the dramatics!

The Whiskey Flower is a winner; my favourite of the Elderflower cocktails so far.
My date was amazed by the Aviation, but I don't know if she got hooked on them. We're certainly eager for a report about whether my memory that the Aviation was the house drink at the bar on the Hindenburg is true.

The bar looks great and good luck with the blog. Maybe will hear more about the rare Kentucky Bourbons you managed to score.
