BBQ's & Picnic's

Its time for a barbeque…

All right the weather is beautiful, the 4th of July is just around the corner and it barbeque and picnic season. When I make cocktails or drinks for a BBQ I like to keep it simple and I like to make pitchers rather than individual drinks. So here are three simple “recipes” you can make for your next picnic or barbeque.

Pitcher of Pimms: If you don’t know Pimms no. 1 you should, its gin based with hints of citrus and spice very refreshing and almost impossible to mess up.
Take one bottle of Pimms no. 1 pour into glass pitcher, add a few mint leaves, some cucumber slices, orange slices, sliced strawberries, a few squeezes of lemon pretty much any fruit that is in season, add ice and finish with ginger beer or ginger ale.
That’s it done.

Pitcher of White Sangria: A little more work and should be made a day ahead.
Take a bottle of white wine pour into glass pitcher. I like stone fruits in this, so add some peach, plum, apricot, nectarine and a sliced orange. You could add a little sweetener at this point (sugar, agave, honey) and “fortify” it with a little peach liquor, brandy, citrus vodka or even a little gin and let it set over night. The next day and ice and enjoy!

Pitcher of Lillet Blanc: Lillet is s a French Aperitif made from a blend of wine, liqueurs, fruits and herbs.
This is the easiest one yet. One bottle of Lillet, one glass pitcher, one sliced orange. Soda or ginger ale optional.

The best thing about these “recipes” is there is no recipe, you can add any fruits or herbs that sound good to you. Also a little Champagne in any of these is not a bad idea either.

Enjoy,
