From the plush furniture, to the authentic cigar boxes lining the wall, Russell's Room is a tip of the hat to the "JJ Russell Cigar Shop" that was the front for the actual Speakeasy during Prohibition. So for those of you who might have heard of Tales of the Cocktail, but are not sure what it is, I will try to explain. Quite simply, Tales is the annual epic festival of the Bar industry. Think along the lines of MacWorld(sans the lanyards), except for much cooler people...(yeah, I said it...come on, have a sense of humor!) Once a year, bartenders and insiders alike from around the world converge in New Orleans for a few days of cocktail demos, tastings, seminars, competitions, and a cocktail or two. This year, the event runs from July 16th-July 20th. So if your usual barkeep has suddenly gone missing, have no fear, it is merely a brief hiatus.
